A Sports Certificate Distribution Ceremony was held at Dow International Medical College (DIMC) on 19th May 2025 to acknowledge and appreciate the dedication and performance of students in the Dow Premier League – Cricket Tournament 2025.The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries of DIMC, including Principal Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed, Vice Principal Dr. Ramlah Naz, Director of Sports Dr. Mehnaz Nuruddin Gitay, and Sports Focal Persons Dr. Falak Sehar and Dr. Fatima Arshad.

During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were awarded to both boys’ and girls’ teams for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performances. The recognition marked a proud milestone in their academic and extracurricular journey.

In his address, the Principal shared his vision for the future of sports at the institution. He emphasized the need to:

-Provide systematic training in various sports disciplines
-Introduce martial arts training, especially for girls, to promote confidence and self-defense
-Encourage a balanced approach to academics and physical well-being through active sports engagement

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, celebrating student effort, fostering encouragement, and promising more opportunities ahead in the realm of sports.

CME ON RESEARCH WRITING & SECURING INTERNATIONAL GRANTSecuring a research grant is essential for advancing knowledge and addressing critical issues. A well-prepared proposal can significantly enhance the chances of successful funding and impactful research.

The Department of Pediatrics at DUHS/DMC/CHK organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on May 19, 2025, at Atta-ur-Rehman Hall, DMC. This event was designed for doctors and young researchers to gain insights into research proposal writing and securing grants for research projects.

The session was moderated by Dr. Huma Muzamil, Senior Registrar of Pediatrics Unit 3. Professor Muzamil Shabana Ejaz, Chairperson of Pediatrics, DUHS, and Head of Pediatrics Unit 1, emphasized the significance of obtaining grants for research projects to discover unexplored issues that are often inaccessible due to a lack of funding.

The key speaker, Dr. Abdul Rehman Aleemi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Research at DIMC, discussed various strategies for securing national and international funding for research projects. Another speaker, Professor Waseem Jamalvi, Head of Pediatrics Unit 3, presented research on the role of probiotics in managing diarrhea.

The session concluded with remarks from Professor Amanullah Lail, Head of Pediatrics Unit 2. Souvenirs were presented to the esteemed speakers and organizers. Lastly, Dr. Amber Kamran, Associate Professor of Pediatrics Unit 1, delivered a vote of thanks to the audience, organizers, speakers, and the sponsors, AGP Pharmaceuticals.

The Society of Surgeons of Pakistan (Karachi Chapter) successfully conducted a pre-conference workshop titled “AI-Enhanced Simulation Training for Laparoscopic Appendectomy Techniques” on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, at the DMC Simulation Lab, Karachi.Held as part of SURGICON 2025, the session featured hands-on training guided by expert facilitators Dr. Shafaq Naseer and Dr. Omer Bin Khalid. With 20 participants in attendance, the workshop emphasized innovation in surgical education through AI-driven simulation. The event was coordinated by Prof. Imrana Zulfikar and Dr. Summaya Saeed and was CME accredited.

Dr. Sadaf Ahmed Asim, Head of the Department of Dermatology at DIMC, led an engaging academic session on May 20, 2025, as the main program director.
